UOIT goaltender Brendan O'Neill has been named the Pioneer Energy Ontario University Athletics (OUA) athlete of the week for the period ending October 14th, 2014.
 
O'Neill was spectacular in net Saturday as he made 43 saves, including 16 in the third period, as the UOIT Ridgebacks shocked the formerly No. 9 ranked McGill Redmen. O'Neill may have recorded his best save of the night in the closing minutes of the 3-2 victory, making a sprawling save to stop a McGill one-timer from the top of the crease. O'Neill is 2-0-1 in his first three OUA starts with a .916 save percentage. Prior to Saturday, the UOIT men's hockey team had never beaten McGill in their six previous meetings.
 
Colt Kennedy also received recognition from the OUA as his goal against the Redmen was selected as the play of the week.
