The BAA aims to:
1. Foster a sense of community and Ridgeback pride among BIPOC student-athletes through team building, shared experiences and support of all individuals within the athletic faculty.
2. Collaborate and support other racial groups to help advocate anti-racism within the Ridgeback community.
3. Partner and support OUA, U SPORTS, Black Canadian Coaches Association and other Institutions in their anti-racism and anti-oppression work whilst creating a well-founded black athletic community in Canada.
4. Increase BIPOC representation at Ontario Tech on all levels of the athletics program (coaches, athletic faculty and staff, present and prospective athletes).
5. Provide access to resources on racism in sport whilst creating an anti-racist and anti-oppression mandate to amplify the voices of BIPOC staff members, athletes and coaches.
6. Promote the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks Code of Conduct desirable characteristics of behaviour.
