OSHAWA, Ont. – Nick Mayede (Parry Sound, Ont.) of the men’s curling team and Emily Gordon (Hamilton, Ont.) of the women’s curling team have been named Ontario Tech athletes of the week for the period ending February 16.
Gordon, a mechanical engineering student, was key to the women’s curling team’s success at the OUA championship over the weekend. As lead, throwing the first two stones of the end, Gordon setup each end well and her sweeping was critical in helping to make the shots for her teammates to complete each end. Her sweeping was important to the success of the women’s curling team this season and weekend.
The Ontario Tech student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North Oshawa.
