OSHAWA, Ont. – Chelsea Ball (Maple, Ont.) of the women’s hockey team and Josh Carrick (Stouffville, Ont.) of the men’s hockey team have been named UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending February 4.
Carrick, a second-year commerce student, had a three-point weekend at home for the Ridgebacks in a pair of 4-3 losses. On Thursday night against the Carleton Ravens at the inaugural Blue & White Night, the defenceman had a goal and an assist. He followed that performance with an assist on Saturday against the McGill Redmen.
This Friday is the final regular season home game for the men’s hockey team as they host the Laurentian Voyageurs. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre.
The UOIT student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
