OSHAWA, Ont. – George Meditskos (Toronto, Ont.) of the men's soccer team and Taijah Henderson (Ajax, Ont.) of the women's soccer team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending September 24.
 
Meditskos was also key in UOIT's play on Saturday in Kingston against the Gaels. Trailing Queen's, who earlier this season the Ridgebacks had beat for the first time in program history, he scored the game-tying goal for UOIT. Trailing the entire second half, he scored in injury time to give the Ridgebacks a valuable point as they sit in third place in the OUA East Division.
 
This week both soccer teams travel to Peterborough for their lone matches of the week against the Trent Excalibur. Kick off is scheduled for 1 and 3:15 p.m.
 
The UOIT athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
