The Ontario Tech rowing team opened their season Saturday in Peterborough at the Head of the Trent (HOTT).

They started the morning with the crew of
Alexi Buis and
Alexie Linardatos finishing sixth in the women's 2 race with a time of 18:33.64. The same crew also competed in the afternoon in the women's 2x, finishing 14th.

Also part of the morning sessions, alumna and Ontario Tech's 2022 athlete of the year,
Kierstyn Hawke, finished second in the women's alumni 1x race with a time of 22:29.18.

The afternoon session featured women's JV 2x of
Charlotte Burgess and
Sharon-Mae Taylor, who finished sixth. The men's lightweight 2x of
Thomas Sullivan and
Nicholas Biscaro finished 11th with a time of 21:20.00.

Wrapping up the day, the Ridgebacks had four boats in the final session. Starting with the men's novice 8+ (
John Roughley,
Noah Miller,
Hunter Bishop,
Calvin Varga,
Kelton Sutherland,
Marcus Whalen,
John Ocampo,
Zach Dixon), Ontario Tech finished 10th (16:37.21). The women's novice 8+ (
Natalia Quesnel,
Emily Phillips,
Karlie Stewart,
Logan Webb,
Rithika Rushendra,
Ifrodet Giorgees,
Calla Wilson,
Talia Ciampo)Â followed, also with a 10th place finish at 20:07.25.

The final boat of the day was the women's 2x of Emmeline Meens-Miller and
Taylor Ruzgys, which finished 13th with a time of 25:15.39.

Ontario Tech also had two alumni 8+ boats row in the noon session, continuing the tradition of Ridgebacks returning for the HOTT.
