OSHAWA, Ont. – Head coach of the Ontario Tech Ridgeback badminton teams,
Peter Arnott, is stepping aside from his coaching position.
Â
Arnott had a decorated career before joining the Ridgebacks, being a member of the organizing committee for the Li-Ning Badminton World Federation (BWF) Junior Championship in Markham. In 2017, Arnott volunteered for the Pan-Am World Junior Championship, where he worked with the head umpire to ensure that all facilities, procedures, and equipment complied with BWF standards.Â
Â
In his six years with Ridgebacks badminton, Arnott developed the program into a high performing team, helping
Joshua Nguyen (Markham, Ont.) and
Chole Hoang (Markham, Ont.) capture the gold medal from the individual event at the 2024 YONEX Canadian University and College Badminton Championship.Â
Â
"Peter was a great asset for the badminton program and helped take us to new heights this year," said Scott Barker, Director of Athletics and Recreation. "We thank him for his contributions to the Ridgebacks and wish him the best in his future endeavors."
