OSHAWA, Ont. – Emilee Carmichael of the badminton team and Brendan O’Neill of the men’s hockey team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending January 14.
 
Carmichael, an industrial and applied mathematics major, had an outstanding showing at the Ridgeback Team Competition this past weekend leading UOIT to top spot in pool play. Her three wins in mixed doubles alongside team captain Sheng Chen, confirmed her status on the Ridgebacks No. 1 mixed doubles team for the OUA championship. She was also voted the Ridgeback team's Most Outstanding Female Athlete by the tournament coaches.
