OSHAWA, Ont. – Nik Vantfoort (London, Ont.), Braden Reid (Whitby, Ont.) and Julia Vinkovic (Oshawa, Ont.) have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week for the period ending September 17.
Vinkovic was key in the women’s field lacrosse team picking up their first victory of the season over the weekend at York University. Up against the host York Lions, Vinkovic opened the scoring for the Ridgebacks and added two more goals to lead the team’s offence in their 11-5 victory.
Next weekend the women’s field lacrosse team are at home for a pair of games at the Oshawa Civic on Sunday. They open the day at 8:30 a.m. against the York Lions before playing the Toronto Varsity Blues at 1:45 p.m.
The UOIT athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
