Carmichael, who is in the industrial & applied mathematics program, recorded UOIT’s first-ever win along with mixed partner Sheng Chen in badminton at the Mandarin Tournament played in Markham. Chen and Carmichael won their first round match in straight sets 21-12, 21-19 to advance to the quarter-finals. The badminton team will now have a break until January 8 where they regroup to compete in the Ridgeback marathon tournament at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre.
