OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team has announced a third Maritime Hockey League (MHL) recruit this offseason, as Noah McMullin (Sackville, N.S.) of the Yarmouth Mariners has committed to the Ridgebacks for the 2019-20 season.
"Noah is an extremely smart and headsy player," noted Ridgebacks head coach
Curtis Hodgins of his newest recruit. "He reminds me a lot of current Ridgeback
Alex Yuill in the way he plays the game and that he can play in all situations and be effective. I believe Noah is going to be a very good U SPORTS player and a mainstay on our blueline for years to come."
McMullin has enjoyed three years with the Mariners and was placed in a leadership role this past season as a co-captain. He has provided production from the back end, as he has delivered over a half-point-per-game throughout his MHL career. Appearing in 141 games, McMullin has 72 points (12 G, 60 A), and has proven capable of elevating his play during playoffs, where he has 20 points (7 G, 13 A) across 37 games.
As a co-captain, McMullin helped lead the Mariners to capturing the Canadian Tire Cup this season. His strong play was recognized during the Fred Page Cup, as he was named to the All-Star team at the conclusion of the event.
"As a GM and coach you have players come and go, that's the business, but Noah McMullin is special," said Laurie Barron of the Yarmouth Mariners. "He's not big in stature, he doesn't have the hardest shot, but he's a winner. He refuses to lose a battle, a race, or a 50/50 puck. Noah competes like a champion every day and makes people accountable with his work ethic. It's been my pleasure to have him call me coach for three seasons and I will miss him dearly. Ontario Tech you are getting a good one."
McMullin will join
Cody Grant, Nicolas Tardif,
Tyson McConnell and
Sean Ross as part of a quickly growing Ridgebacks 2019-20 recruiting class.
