OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team has added valuable U SPORTS experience to its roster with the commitment of forward Caden Steinke ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Steinke joins the Ridgebacks after spending the 2025-26 campaign with the University of Calgary, where he appeared in 16 games between the regular season and playoffs.
Prior to beginning his U SPORTS career, the Lloydminster, Alta., native developed through the Alberta Junior Hockey League, suiting up for the Calgary Canucks, Brooks Bandits and Lloydminster Bobcats. Over five AJHL seasons, Steinke appeared in 155 regular-season games, recording 44 goals and 104 points while establishing himself as a dependable two-way forward.
His most productive junior season came in 2024-25 with the Lloydminster Bobcats, where he tallied 11 goals and 34 points in 28 games before adding five points in four playoff contests. He also recorded 24 points in 31 games with the Bobcats during the 2023-24 season.
"Caden was intriguing to our program as he has played a year in U SPORTS hockey, which is incredibly valuable," said Ridgebacks Head Coach
Curtis Hodgins. "He will bring a two-way game to our team and we look forward to him contributing to our group in different ways. He will also be a mature presence in our dressing room which will serve us nicely as we retool our lineup."
