OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's hockey team has added another piece to its defensive core with the commitment of six-foot-five defenceman Wesley Golden for the 2026-27 season.
Golden joins the Ridgebacks after spending the past two seasons with the Melville Millionaires of the SJHL, where he developed into a reliable two-way presence on the blue line. The Grande Prairie, Alta. native appeared in 69 games with the Millionaires, recording 12 points while bringing size, mobility and a steady defensive game to the lineup.
Prior to his time in Melville, Golden also spent time in the AJHL with the Grande Prairie Storm and in the BCHL with the Cowichan Valley Capitals, adding valuable experience across multiple top junior leagues in Canada.
"Wesley is another nice addition to our blueline," said Ridgebacks Head Coach,
Curtis Hodgins. "We were looking to add some size and reach to our defence group and he certainly brings that component, but he is also very mobile for a big man. We are excited to add Wesley to our program."
Golden helped the Millionaires reach the SJHL playoffs in both of his seasons with the club and suited up in 11 postseason games during that span.
"We are extremely excited for 'Goldy'," said Melville Millionaires Head Coach and General Manager, Doug Johnson. "He's been a phenomenal player and better person for the Mils, and we're looking forward to following him on his next endeavour. We wish him all the best at Ontario Tech and know they are getting a tremendous human."
