Men's hockey introduces Sean Ross as newest Ridgeback

OSHAWA, Ont. – On Thursday at the Campus Ice Centre, the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks introduced Sean Ross (Bracebridge, Ont.) as the first recruit for men's hockey heading into the 2019-20 season this fall.

"Sean is a tremendous player with a very well-rounded game," said Ridgebacks head coach Curtis Hodgins at the introduction. "His skating, his puck handling, his intensity – Sean can bring lots to our team and we are looking forward to having him join our program next season."

The Windsor Spitfires draft pick most recently played as a member of the Stratford Warriors of the GOJHL. Over the past two seasons with the Warriors, Ross has accumulated 109 points (56 G, 53, A) over 87 games played. At the conclusion of this past season he was named a GOJHL midwestern conference first team all-star and he walked away with four major team awards: Erik Anderson Award (Most points in regular season), Pavestone Plus Award (Top plus-minus), Jack Wright Memorial Award (Regular season MVP), and Mike Lebreux Memorial Award (Fan's player of the year). In addition, he recorded 15 points (10 G, 5 A) in 18 playoff games during a pair of postseason runs for the Warriors in 2017-18 and 2018-19.

"I'm a team first kind of guy," said Ross when asked about his style of play. "I like to take the puck wide, get the puck in on the net, use my speed well and I'll do anything for the win."

Ross also previously played for the Cambridge Winter Hawks and Lambton Shore Predators of the GOJHL and the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL. A dynamic offensive player, he has amassed 210 points (102 G, 108 A) in the entirety of his GOJHL career.

"This is a great school and I think it will be a great fit for me coming in," said Ross. "I'm most looking forward to meeting all the guys, picking my program, playing that first game and getting my first year started"
