Milburn and De Souza named UOIT student-athletes of the week OSHAWA, Ont. – Taylor Milburn (Whitby, Ont.) of the women's field lacrosse team and
Alec DeSouza (Oshawa, Ont.) of the men's tennis team have been named the UOIT student-athletes of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending September 21.
Milburn, a second-year concurrent education major, scored seven goals in two games over the weekend in Peterborough. Milburn recorded four goals in a 12-12 draw against Trent, followed up with a three-goal performance in a 9-7 win over Queen's. Last season, Milburn was named the team's rookie of the year.
DeSouza, a first-year software engineering major, won all four matches he played in against Waterloo and Carleton. De Souza's singles win against the Warriors came in dramatic fashion as set scores were 6-4, 4-6 and 10-8. He also picked up two big points against the Ravens as the Ridgebacks beat Carleton 4-3.
