PICKERING, Ont. – Jailyn Joensen (Whitby, Ont.) has been named an OUA badminton all-star after an impressive showing at the OUA badminton championship.

This is the second OUA all-star nod that Joensen has received this season, having already been honored after an eight-goal showing at the OUA lacrosse championship in October. 

Joensen was pivotal to the Ridgebacks' success this weekend, dropping just one women's singles match all weekend to eventual champion Jacqueline Cheung. She also played a significant role in mixed doubles, picking up wins alongside Joshua Nguyen (Markham, Ont.) and Kevin Vu (Ajax, Ont.).

Joensen has a chance to continue her dominant run this year when the Ridgebacks badminton team travels to Waterloo for the 2024 YONEX Canadian University & College Badminton Championships next week.
