Levi Ogbonna (Toronto, Ont.) of the men's basketball team and Alyssa Wong (North York, Ont.) of the women's badminton team have been named the Ontario Tech student-athletes of the week for the period ending February 19.

Wong, a mechanical engineering major, had a strong showing for the Ridgebacks over the weekend at the OUA badminton championship. She picked up three match victories in the team's final ties of the weekend. She won a singles match against TMU, as well as a pair of women's doubles victories with Venuga Kariharan against TMU and Guelph.
 
Ogbonna, a criminology and justice studies major, helped Ontario Tech pick up their first weekend sweep in program history. They defeated the Laurentian Voyageurs 79-70 on Friday night before dropping the Nipissing Lakers 88-85 on Saturday. In both games he finished with 23 points each night, while finishing with a total of 10 rebounds and 12 assists over the two victories.
 
The basketball programs have wrapped up their OUA season, while the badminton team will host the YONEX University & College National Championship in March at Ontario Tech.
 
The Ontario Tech student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North Oshawa.
