Ontario Tech is happy to welcome the newest recruit for women's curling, Lilli Wrigley.
Â
Wrigley's interest in curling started at a young age, with her entire family taking part in the sport. She eventually joined the Oshawa Curling Club little rock program, and prior to the pandemic, she was selected to represent O'Neill CVI at OFSAA. While she never got the chance to play that year due to lockdowns, she was able to continue training at the Oshawa Golf and Curling Club.
Â
"That was a great time for me to improve my skills, and I saw my progress skyrocket," said Wrigley.
Â
This year Wrigley will be joining Team Onischke with the goal of making provincials as well as enrolling into the general psychology program when she arrives on campus this fall.
"I'm looking forward to expanding my curling knowledge and meeting new people," said Wrigley about her commitment to Ontario Tech. "I've already met many of the curling people and they seem like interesting and fun people."
Â
Outside of curling, she is a member of O'Neill's rugby program, starting in Grade 9 as a member of their sevens team. This year she played 15s with the senior team, making it to the league semifinal, where they fell to Pickering High School.
Â
"Sadly, we did not win however I have never felt closer to that group of girls than I did during and after that game."
