OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks men's hockey program is pleased to announce the commitment of Stephen Calisti.
From Etobicoke, he comes to the Ridgebacks most recently from the Toronto Jr. A Canadiens of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). Over the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons he finished with 16 goals and 83 points in 107 regular season games on the blue-line.
"Stephen was a tremendous contributor for the Toronto Jr. A Canadiens in his two seasons with our club," said general manager Blake Ricci. "After playing two seasons of midget hockey within the GTHL and one season with the French River Rapids of the NOJHL, we were fortunate enough to acquire Stephen's rights in the summer of 2018. Stephen hit the ground running with our club and fit in seamlessly. An offensive catalyst on the backend, Stephen led our defence in points during his two seasons with the club and represented us at the 2019 OJHL all-star game."
Prior to playing with Toronto, he spent the 2017-18 with the French River Rapids of the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL). In his one season he had 13 goals and 39 points in 56 games.
"Stephen will be a real nice addition to our blue-line. He is very good skater who moves the puck very well and likes to get involved on the offensive side of things," said Ridgebacks head coach
Curtis Hodgins. "At the same time, his mobility allows him to be a very good defender and take care of things defensively. We are excited to add him to our program."
