CHARLOTTETOWN, P.E.I. – The Ridgebacks second stop on their women's hockey tour to the east coast took them to Charlottetown, P.E.I. where they faced off against the UPEI Panthers.
 
The Panthers would score the opening three goals of the game and fight off a Ridgeback comeback attempt as they picked up a 4-2 victory.
 
Power play goals against hurt UOIT for the second straight night as UPEI's first two came with a Ridgeback in the box.
 
Tori Campbell (Saskatoon, Sask.) got the start for UOIT and allowed the opening two goals while making six saves in just under 30 minutes of play.
 
Briar Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) came into the game in relief, seeing her first action of the weekend. Things did not start well as she allowed a goal less than a minute after coming in. However, the first year netminder was able to settle down as she made 14 saves.
 
Trailing 3-0 midway through the second, Sam Forchielli (Hamilton, Ont.) recorded her second point of the weekend as she scored to put the Ridgebacks within two. Shanelle Doucette (Bowmanville, Ont.) and Rachel Budden (Richmond, B.C.) added assists.
 
In the third, UPEI would add an insurance marker five minutes in with Ashtyn Bartlett notching her second of the game.
 
Nova Scotia native Alex Frigon (Dartmouth, N.S.) added a goal for UOIT in the third to cut the Panther lead in half but that is as close as the Ridgebacks would get. Forchielli and Doucette set up Frigon's goal giving them each two points in the loss.
 
Shots ended up 30-24 in favour of UOIT but the Ridgebacks failed to convert on their scoring opportunities.
 
The Ridgebacks east coast tour will come to an end on Sunday afternoon when they play the Saint Mary's Huskies in Halifax, N.S.
