Ridgebacks drop game 1 of OUA semifinals to Guelph

GUELPH, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team were unable to solve Martina Fedel on Wednesday night, falling 3–0 to the Guelph Gryphons in Game 1 of the OUA Semifinals.

Guelph opened the scoring midway through the first period when Myriam Parnell found the back of the net at 10:02 to give the Gryphons the early lead. The Gryphons doubled their advantage in the second period as Katie Dance scored at 13:46, finishing off a play set up by Arielle MacDonald and Kaitlyn McKenna.

Ontario Tech generated several chances in the third period while looking to climb back into the game, but the Gryphons sealed the result late when Maddie Min scored into the empty net with 1:34 remaining.

Zoe McGee was strong in goal for the Ridgebacks, stopping 32 shots in the contest. 

The series now shifts to Oshawa, Ont. for Game 2 on Friday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at the Campus Ice Centre. Tickets are available in advance at goridgebacks.com/tickets, with limited tickets remaining.
