OSHAWA, Ont. – Ontario Tech women's hockey standouts Zoe McGee and Julia Jackson have officially declared for the 2026 PWHL Draft, continuing the next chapter of two of the most accomplished careers in Ridgebacks program history.
The duo helped lead Ontario Tech through a historic 2025-26 campaign that saw the Ridgebacks reach the OUA semifinals for the first time in program history. Both Jackson and McGee played an integral role in the playoff run, with Jackson recording two goals and two assists while McGee ranked second in the OUA with a .942 save percentage and 162 saves.
"Julia and Zoe exemplify what it means to be a Ridgeback. Their commitment, resilience, and work ethic have left a lasting impact on our department and our community," said Ontario Tech Athletic Director, Audra Sherman. "We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Ontario Tech and look forward to supporting them as they pursue the next chapter of their journeys."
McGee leaves Ontario Tech as one of the most decorated goaltenders in program history. The fifth-year netminder established herself as the backbone of the Ridgebacks throughout her career and was named to the OUA All-Rookie Team in 2022. This season, she became the program's all-time leader in wins and saves. Following the 2025-26 campaign, McGee was named Ontario Tech's Female Athlete of the Year after once again ranking among the OUA's top goaltenders.
"For five seasons, Zoe has been a driving force in our team's success," said Ridgebacks Head Coach, Kassidy Nauboris. "A fierce competitor and natural leader, she led by example every day while setting the standard for what it means to be a Ridgeback. Zoe's influence extended far beyond the net, and we are incredibly proud of the mark she's left on our program. We're very excited to see where her next chapter takes her."
Jackson, the Ridgebacks' captain, also played a pivotal role in helping elevate the program to new heights. The forward from Uxbridge, Ont. delivered a dominant offensive season in 2024-25, leading the OUA with 14 goals while earning OUA Second-Team All-Star honours. She went on to be named Ontario Tech's Female Athlete of the Year for the 2024-25 season.
"Julia made an immediate impact when she became a Ridgeback," said Nauboris. "Her relentless work ethic and commitment to excellence elevated those around her and helped push our team to new heights. Julia's passion for the game and dedication has left a lasting impact on our program. We're are proud of all that Julia accomplished with us and can't wait to watch her continue to succeed!"
The 2026 PWHL Draft is scheduled to take place on June 17 from the Fox Theatre in Detroit, Michigan.
