Women's Hockey UOIT Sports Information

Inaugural women’s hockey school day game on Friday

OSHAWA, Ont. – It is a big week for the UOIT men's and women's hockey programs with four home games scheduled to take place at the Campus Ice Centre this weekend.
 
On Friday afternoon, the Dog Pound will be packed with hundreds of local elementary school students as the women's hockey team hosts the Toronto Varsity Blues for the program's inaugural school day game.
 
Leading into the event, UOIT players have been visiting the schools to talk about their experience as a varsity student-athlete and to talk about the importance of education and healthy living.
 
This will mark the first year UOIT has hosted a women's hockey school day game. Limited tickets will be available to purchase for the event at the ticket window on game day.
 
Later that evening, the U Sports no. 5 ranked UOIT men's hockey team will be hosting the Laurier Golden Hawks with puck drop set for 7:30 p.m.
 
Less than 24 hours later, the men's team will be back on the ice for a 3:30 p.m. game against the Waterloo Warriors. UOIT currently sits in first place in the OUA eastern conference with a 5-1-0 record.

The busy hockey weekend concludes with the women's team hosting the Ryerson Rams on Sunday, Oct. 30. Game time is 3:30 p.m.
 
Following Sunday's game there may be a traffic jam heading down Thornton Road as Ridgeback fans will be heading to Civic Fields for the OUA women's soccer quarter-final match the begins at 6 p.m. UOIT's opponent is still to be determined.
