NORTH YORK, Ont. – Friday night the UOIT men's hockey team bounced back from an opening day loss at the York Invitational to win their first game of the preseason.
Loren Ulett (Port Perry, Ont.) led the way with a hat-trick in the Ridgebacks 6-3 win.
His first came on a breakaway, with his second coming just before the buzzer went to end the second period.
Dylan King (Middle Sackville, N.S.),
Ben Blasko (Kingston, Ont.) and
Connor Jarvis (Port Union, Ont.) each had single tallies for UOIT.
Brendan O'Neill (Ilderton, Ont.), who only allowed one even strength Rams goal, turned aside 24 shots for the win between the pipes.
Next weekend the Ridgebacks will travel to the U.S. for a pair of games against the
RIT Tigers (Rochester, N.Y.) and
Canisius Golden Griffins (Buffalo, N.Y.).
Their OUA regular season gets underway the following week on Oct. 9 at 7:30 p.m. against the McGill Redmen at the Campus Ice Centre.
