GUELPH, Ont. – Picking up a pair of wins on Saturday, the UOIT women's curling team finally got the results going their way on Day Three of the OUA championship.
Unfortunately for the Ridgebacks, wins by Brock, Toronto and Carleton ended their hopes of making the playoffs after the round-robin wraps up Sunday morning.
UOIT started Day Three with a 7-2 victory over Trent in seven ends.
The Ridgebacks scored two in the first end before stealing one in the second to go ahead 3-0. The Excalibur were forced to take one in the third before they forced UOIT to take one with hammer in the fourth.
Trent continued the trend of scoring a lone point in the fifth to trail 4-2, but UOIT took one in six and stole two in seven en route to their second win of the weekend.
Up against Queen's midway through the day on Saturday, the Ridgebacks got their second win of the day and third of weekend.
Starting with a deuce in the first, UOIT forced the Gaels to take one in the second before another two with hammer in the third end. Queen's then scored singles in four, five and six before the Ridgebacks broke the 4-4 tie with another two in the seventh end. In the eighth they stole one to win 7-4.
UOIT (3-3) wraps up the round-robin play on Sunday morning against Carleton (5-1).
