OUA Men's HockeyMcGill defeats UOIT 4-1 MONTREAL, Que. – McGill caught the UOIT men's hockey team off-guard three times on Saturday night as the No. 8 ranked Redmen downed the Ridgebacks 4-1 in Montreal.
The Redmen scored within the first two minutes of each period and added their fourth goal at the 13:11 mark of the third to go ahead 4-0. UOIT's
James Woodcroft (Milton, Ont.) scored for the Ridgebacks on the power play with eight seconds to play in the game.
Marc-Olivier Vachon scored 45 seconds into the game for McGill, with Jonathan Bonneau's goal not coming until 1:39 of the second period.
Samuel Labrecque's goal was on the power play just 1:21 into the third, with Vachon scoring his second of the game to pad the Redmen's lead.
Outshot 51-31, the Ridgebacks were 1-for-5 on the power play, while McGill was 1-for-7.
Colin Dzijacky (Thunder Bay, Ont.) made 47 saves in the loss. Jacob Gervais-Chouinard stopped 30 for the win.
UOIT wraps up their regular season on Sunday at Concordia.
