Hughes (Thornton, Ont.) was huge in net for the Ridgebacks, picking up a victory over the Queen's Gaels on Saturday night. The fourth-year veteran brought stability to a Ridgebacks team that was under duress for much of the game and provided a few highlight reel saves, finishing with 38 total. After a rough start to the season, Hughes has now won her last three starts all against teams that are fighting for playoff spots.

Men's hockey plays their final conference game of the season on Wednesday night, their annual Bell Let's Talk game. The women travel to Laurier for a rare Thursday night tilt before facing the Waterloo Warriors on Saturday on the road.

The Ontario Tech student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North Oshawa.
