Colin Dzijacky named UOIT’s student-athlete of the week

OSHAWA, Ont. – Colin Dzijacky of the men’s hockey team has been named the UOIT student-athlete of the week presented by Boston Pizza North Oshawa for the period ending January 5.

Dzijacky, a first year software engineering major, was very busy in net over the weekend as the Ridgebacks faced two nationally ranked opponents. Against the No. 8 ranked Queen’s Gaels on Friday, the Thunder Bay native stopped 35 shots that included 16 in the third period. The next night against the No. 5 ranked McGill Redmen, Dzijacky turned aside 38 shots. With 419 saves on the year, he is ranked sixth in the country.

Dzijacky and the Ridgebacks will be on the road this weekend as they take on RMC (Friday) and Ottawa (Saturday).
