Elser, a fifth-year criminology and justice studies major, recorded his first career hat-trick in the Ridgebacks exciting 4-3 shootout win over the UQTR Patriotes on Friday night. The veteran captain opened the scoring for UOIT at the four minute mark of the first period, drawing even with the Patriotes, before adding his second goal of the game ten minutes later to take a first period lead. After UQTR evened things back up, Elser once again restored a one goal lead with his third goal midway through the second period. The next day, he also added an assist on UOIT's lone goal of the afternoon to round out the four-point weekend. Elser has now lifted hit season totals to seven goals and 16 points, already surpassing last season's stats in those categories in just 14 games played.
