OSHAWA, Ont. – Jesse Baird (Brampton, Ont.) of the men's hockey team is been named the UOIT student-athlete of the week for the period ending November 12.
 
A first-year commerce student, Baird scored his first career Ontario University Athletics (OUA) goal in his seventh game of the season as the Ridgebacks defeated the Queen's Gaels with a 4-2 victory on home ice on Friday night. Baird was named the third star of the game after his three-point performance with one goal and two assists.
 
Baird also attained an assist in the Ridgeback's thrilling 5-4 shootout victory over the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Saturday night. 
 
This weekend the men's hockey team heads north to face the Nipissing Lakers and Laurentian Voyageurs.
 
The UOIT student-athlete of the week award is presented by Subway located at 2069 Simcoe Street North in Oshawa.
