Shelby joined the Ridgeback rowing coaching staff after an outstanding career on the water as an athlete.
From Oshawa, Shelby started with the rowing team as a novice in 2011. That season she was voted the novice team captain.
In her last season, 2014, she made lightweight and rowed in a successful double, which was the only UOIT crew to make an A final at the OUA championship. At the end of the season she also travelled to Victoria, B.C. to row the lightweight double at CURCs (Canadian University Rowing Championship) and a lightweight single at NRCs (National Rowing Championship).
At the end of the 2014 season she was named the female rowing MVP and was the recipient of the Polonsky Leadership Award.
Away from the water she was responsible for the rowing team’s finances on the executive from 2012-14.
