Sara has been involved in the sport of rowing since 2017, when she joined the novice rowing team at Ontario Tech, having played varsity lacrosse the year prior. As a novice, she competed in the women’s 8. In varsity, she raced various boats including the heavyweight 4, double, pair and single. In her senior year, Mathew was named athlete of the week.
In her senior year at Ontario Tech, Mathew was named Rowing Executive Committee President, where the work of the executive team earned her the Rowing Women’s Leadership Award and Rob Millikin Memorial Award. Â
She graduated from Legal Studies in 2020, and completed a graduate certificate in paralegal at Durham College from 2020-2021, where she was also a member of the varsity rugby team.
Mathew has also competed in the North American Henley Regatta, and is currently a member on the Row Ontario Diversity and Inclusion Committee.Â
