Being involved with the Ridgebacks rowing program as an athlete for four years, Attwood earned a number of achievements. She raced in every discipline in rowing, having won medals in doubles, lightweight four's and heavyweight eight's at invitational regattas within the OUA circuit. In her final season, she was a member of the crew that participated in the Canadian University Rowing Association national championship, becoming the first Ontario Tech team to compete at a national event.

Christie also took on a leadership role with the team, having been the captain from 2010 to 2012 and the rowing executive president from 2011 to 2012. Christie capped off her four-year rowing career with the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks by being named the recipient of the Rob Millikin award, Dr. Gary Polonsky leadership award and was selected as the OUA Women of Influence recipient for the Ridgebacks.

As a present novice women’s coach, Christie strives to instill a passion for the sport of rowing, teamwork, dedication and a strong work ethic into all of the athletes that she coaches. She is also actively involved with Ontario Tech rowing alumni initiatives to keep alumni connected to their crew, create opportunities to support the current team and promote Ridgeback spirit
