OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ridgebacks men's hockey team clinched their playoff spot with 3-2 win on the road against the York Lions.
The Ridgebacks and the Lions were evenly-matched through the first period with both teams scoreless after the first. Ontario Tech opened the scoring in the second period with a goal from
Andrew Suriyuth (Kingston, Ont.) and later in the period another goal by
Gabriel Bernier (Victoriaville, Que.) saw the Ridgebacks with a two goal lead at the end of the second period.
In the third period, the York Lions answered back with two goals by Jayden McCarthy and Owen Gilhula as an attempt to get back into the game.
Stephen Calisti (Etobicoke, Ont.) was able to find the back of the net to put the Ridgebacks up by one against the Lions and scored the third goal of the game for the Ridgebacks.
The Ridgebacks continue on the road for their final game against the Queens Gaels on February 10 in Kingston. at 7:30 p.m.
