KINGSTON, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's hockey team closed out their regular season on the road with a 6-3 loss to the Queen Gaels.
The Ridgebacks, who have already punched their ticket to the playoffs, found the first goal of the game from
James White (Peterborough, Ont.) on the power play, but Jonathan Yantsis would find his first of four goals on the night late in the first to tie it up, and he would strike again early in the second to make it a one point lead for the Gaels.
Ben Roode (Dartmouth, N.S.) was the second Ridgeback on the board with an assist fromÂ
Andrew Suriyuth (Kingston, Ont.), but Yantsis would score another, with Alex Robert for Queen's to regain the lead.
In the final frame,
Gabriel Bernier (Victoriaville, Que.) picked up the third Ridgebacks goal of the night off another powerplay, before Yantsis and Cameron Tolnai would put the game away with goals late in the third period.
The Ridgebacks will now set their sights on the OUA Playoffs and will host the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Wednesday, February 14 at the Campus Ice Centre at 7 p.m. Early arrivers will recieve a coupon for a free 2200 North poutine, as well as several other give aways at the event.
