THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Ontario Tech men's basketball team traveled to Lakehead for a potential preview of their inaugural playoff game on Saturday night, where they beat the Lakehead Thunderwolves 85-79.

Lakehead dominated the first quarter of action, mounting a 27-19 lead after the first ten minutes. They were led by 23 points, five assists, and five rebounds from Tyler Sagl, who played the last season with the Winnipeg Sea Bears in the CEBL. 

Ontario Tech would find their footing defensively in the second and began to chip away at the Lakehead lead throughout the next two quarters. Keon Baker (Picking, Ont.) continued to stuff the stat sheet with 26 points, nine rebounds, four steals, three assists and a block. Zubair Seyed (Cambridge, Ont.) had 18 points, including two threes and six assists. 

The Thunderwolves began to fade away in the fourth from the defensive pressure of the Ridgebacks. Ontario Tech shot a game-high 63 per cent in the fourth to secure the victory while holding Lakehead to 40 per cent shooting, and just one made three in the second half.

The Ridgebacks will now be returning home for the final two games of the season, where they'll face the Carleton Ravens on Friday, February 16, for staff appreciation night and then host the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the final game of the regular season on Saturday, February 17 for Graduating Seniors Night.
