OTTAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech Ridgebacks dropped their season opener 5-4 against the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night at Minto Sports Complex.
Braiden Koran (Kimberley, B.C.) scored twice for Ontario Tech, including the opening goal at 1:54 of the first period, while Tayem Gislason (Winnipeg, Man.) and Antoine Desrochers (Victoriaville, Que.) each added a goal. Despite outshooting Ottawa 15-11 in the second period, the Ridgebacks couldn't capitalize on their five power-play opportunities throughout the game.
William Desmarais started in net for the Ridgebacks and made 34 saves.
Ottawa's Andrew Belchamber led the way with two goals, including what stood as the game-winner at 13:54 of the third period.
The Ridgebacks will be back in action in the nation's capitol tomorrow night when they take on the Carleton Ravens at 7 p.m,.
