Ridgebacks pick up first win of the season

OTTAWA, Ont.— The Ridgebacks scored four third-period goals to complete a come-from-behind 5-4 victory over the Carleton Ravens on Friday night.

Trailing 3-1 at the start of the final frame, Kyle Leonard sparked the comeback just two minutes in, capitalizing on a feed from Alex Drover and Baxter Anderson to pull Ontario Tech within one. The Ridgebacks continued their push and made the most of a power play opportunity when Drover buried a shot from the right circle at seven minutes to even the score.

Momentum fully shifted in Ontario Tech's favour as James White found the back of the net at 11:50, taking a pass from Antoine Desrochers and snapping a shot past Carleton's Steven Bacovsky for a 4-3 lead. Less than two minutes later, Baxter Anderson added what would prove to be the game-winner, tipping in a Kyle Leonard pass to make it 5-3 at the 13:09 mark.

Carleton tried to mount a response with Alex Johnston scoring at 13:47, but Ontario Tech's defence held firm for the remainder of the game. Goalie Beckett Langkow made several key saves down the stretch, finishing with 33 saves on 37 shots.

The Ridgebacks' next stop sees them in Toronto to take on the York Lions on Friday, October 11 at 7:15 p.m.
