ST. CATHARINES Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team's five game road trip continued on Friday night with a stop in St. Catharines where the Ridgebacks picked up a 3-2 win.
The high paced game was jump started with an early Brock goal from Camie Matteau Rushbrook but
Kayla Welk (Barrie, Ont.) picked up the first of her three points five minutes later with an assist from
Mackenna Krulicki (Wellesy, Ont.).
Alyssa Denney (Keswick, Ont.) continued the Ridgebacks offence at the start of the second period with an assist from Welk.
Brock would find an answer with a short handed goal, but with four seconds remaining in the second period,
Julianne Davidson (Courtice, Ont.) back handed the puck into the net for what would be the game winning goal.
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) started in net for the Ridgebacks and recorded 26 saves on the night, including two clutch stops in the dying moments of the game.
The Ridgebacks road trip will continue when they take on the Waterloo Warriors on January 20 at 2:30 p.m. You can catch the Ridgebacks back at the Campus Ice Centre on Feb. 2 when they host a school day game against the TMU Bold.
