Ridgebacks beat RMC in historic outing

Oshawa, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's soccer team put up a record-breaking performance beating the RMC Paladins 12-0 on Sunday at Vaso's Field. This marks the biggest margin in a victory as well as the most goals scored in program history.

The 12-0 performance beats a previous high, a 11-0 win against the Trent Excalibur, set by the 2016 Ridgebacks women's soccer side that won the first OUA Championship and U SPORTS medal in school history.

The Ridgebacks wasted no time with a goal from Tara Sisic (Toronto, Ont.) in the fourth minute of the match. Later in the half Samantha Russell (Georgetown, Ont.) scored in the 17th minute, to give the Ridgebacks the early 2-0 lead.

The onslaught would continue with goals from Marlene Siwula (Mississauga, Ont.) and Mackenzie Scott (Peterborough, Ont.) just over a minute apart in the 36th and 37th minutes. Just three minutes later, Aliya Sweeney (Oshawa, Ont.) would add another. Th first half would end 5-0.

Mary Nicolaou (Milton, Ont.) continued the score with two of her own in the 48th and 50th minutes. Once again just three minutes later the Ridgebacks capitalized on another opportunity, this time it would be Sara Wylie (Mississauga, Ont.)

In the 59th minute Scott would add her second of the match. The scoring would resume once again when Emma Dang (Ottawa, Ont.) would pot one in the back of the goal in the 77th minute. Nikita Mohan (Ottawa, Ont.) would be the ninth and final different goal score of the match when she buried one in the 84th minute.
