The Ontario Tech women's hockey opened the new year with a 4-1 loss to the Waterloo Warriors on Sunday.

Waterloo's Carley Oliver finished the game with a hat trick, scoring three of the four goals during Sunday night's game. Also scoring for Waterloo, Brooklyn Cole.

Mackenzie Krasowski (Keswick, Ont.) came out strong in the third period, scoring the only Ridgeback goal just 24 seconds into the period.
In net,
Zoe McGee (Kanata, Ont.) had 37 saves in the loss.
