OSHAWA, Ont. - The Ontario Tech University women's soccer team won their ninth straight Campus Cup with a 2-1 win over the Durham Lords on Wednesday night.
Rhese Chambers scoring the game-winning goal for the Ridgebacks in the final minute of the 50-minute match. Durham's Sage Thomas opened the scoring in the 14
th minute, which carried to halftime.
Sara Wylie knotted the game 1-1 in the 33
rd minute.
The victory means the Ridgebacks have won every Campus Cup since Durham won the inaugural match in 2012.
For the men, they followed with a 2-1 victory over the Durham Lords. The game-winning goal for Ontario Tech came from
Carlos Edic with just 12 minutes remaining in the match.
Cody Messias opened the scoring for the Ridgebacks in the 10
th minute, matching Isaiah Wisdom's third-minute goal.
This marks back-to-back wins for the men's program. The 2019 edition of the Campus Cup was called at halftime due to lightning, but prior to that, the Ridgebacks had won three straight games.
Ontario Tech continues OUA conference action on Friday when they head to Peterborough to face the Trent Excalibur.
