The Ontario Tech women's basketball team dropped a tough 103-63 loss to the Bishop's Gaiters in their first preseason game.
 
The Gaiters dominated the opening quarter outscoring the Ridgebacks 28-10 behind 24 points and four rebounds from former RESQ player of the year Amaiquen Siciliano.
 
Former Durham Lord, Marie Stasiuk (Coburg, Ont.), made her debut with Ontario Tech and led the Ridgebacks in scoring with 11 points as the team began to find their footing in the second quarter. Another new addition, Elliot Cowan (Chatham, Ont.) contributed nine points and five rebounds to the total for the Ridgebacks.
 
The Ridgebacks continued their solid team play through the fourth quarter, where the Gaiters once again clamped down defensively on their way to victory.
 
The women's team heads out on the road for their next preseason match up with the Western Mustangs on Oct. 13, and will be back at home when they take on the Lambton Lions on Oct. 14 at 6 p.m.
