The Ontario Tech men's basketball team show cased their revamped roster in a close 62-55 preseason loss to the visiting Bishop Gaiters on Thursday night.
 
The Ridgebacks came out of the gate playing solid defensive basketball and finding AJ Cummings (Ajax, Ont.) open repeatedly on his way to 20 points on the night. Tombe Pitia (Kitchener, Ont.) added 10 points, six rebounds and three chase-down blocks in his first showing as a Ridgeback.
 
Bishop's battled back into the game in the second quarter and took a 29-26 lead into halftime. Rowan Halfpenny led them in scoring with 15 points and David Nawarro chipped in 12 points as well.
 
The game remained tight throughout the second half, but a series of turnovers and some clutch shots from Halfpenny saw Bishop pull away in the final minutes.
 
This marks the final preseason game at home for the Ridgebacks this season as the team will now make the trip out to Alberta where they'll play the remainder of their preseason games starting with a match up with the MacEwan Griffins on Oct. 7.
