Ridgebacks comeback forces overtime, Varsity Blues win to split season series

TORONTO, Ont. – After playing to at 57-57 tie after four quarters, the Ontario Tech women's basketball team headed into overtime looking to win their second straight road game against the University of Toronto. The Varsity Blues outscored the Ridgebacks 13-7 and walk away with at 70-64 victory on Sunday afternoon.
 
Sunday's game saw a low scoring first half in which the Ridgebacks took a 29-28 lead into the break. After a third quarter in which Ontario Tech scored just eight points, the Varsity Blues took a nine-point lead into the fourth before the Ridgebacks would come back and force overtime.
           
There were several big performers for the Ridgebacks including Dalyssa Fleurgin (Montreal, Que.) who scored 16 points and Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) who finished the afternoon with 17 points and 13 rebounds in a game-high 42 minutes played. Alyssa Carin (Mississauga, Ont.) made several highlight-reel plays in Sunday's loss, including multiple no-look passes.
           
Lauren Boers led the way for the Varsity Blues. She finished as the game's top scorer with 22 points, while also grabbing seven boards.
           
Ontario Tech's next game will be in North Bay as they'll take on the Nipissing Lakers on Friday.
