NORTH BAY, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team held on to secure their third win of the season on Saturday night, 72-66 over Nipissing in North Bay.
The Ridgebacks stifled the Lakers defensively, holding them to just 25 per cent shooting from the field, but Nipissing stormed back into the game with just minutes remaining before
Alyssa Carin (Mississauga, Ont.) iced the game at the free throw line.
Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) dominated the boards while adding another double-double to tally with 11 points and 15 rebounds.
The Ismaila sisters once again teamed up to lead the way offensively for the Ridgebacks with
Nadia Ismaila (Ottawa, Ont.) scoring a team-high 15 points while grabbing seven rebounds.
Hadeza Ismaila (Ottawa, Ont.) had a 10-point, 10 rebound double-double as well.
The Ridgebacks will play their final regular season game at home in a rematch against Nipissing as they host their inaugural Shoot for Change game. The game will feature a number of special events, including a 50/50 draw, Ridgebacks gear discounted for sale and opportunities to win prizes during both the women's and men's games at halftime. Shoot for Change t-shirts are also available to be ordered online or in-person at the game (while supplies last).
All proceeds from the game will be used to establish the
Black Athlete Association Bursary for Marginalized Groups (BAA).
Game times are set for 4 p.m. for the women's game and 6 p.m. for the men's game at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre. Tickets can be
