Carin has career game as Ridgebacks end season on high note

OSHAWA, Ont. - The Ontario Tech women's basketball team wrapped up their second OUA season with a win at home, 84-74 over the Nipissing Lakers.

The victory was the fourth of the season for the Ridgebacks, who won only one conference game during their inaugural season in 2019-20.

Prior to tip-off of the game, which was also the inaugural Shoot for Change game for the Ridgebacks, lone graduating senior Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) was recognized with a brief ceremony.

Alyssa Carin (Mississauga, Ont.) had a career-high 27 points to lead the Ridgebacks offence, adding six boards, four assists and two steals.

Budimunda finished her career with a double-double in her fourth straight game, dropping 10 points with 13 boards.

Sunday's Shoot for Change game brought the OUA season to a close for Ontario Tech, with the program finishing with a season-high four victories. This was also the first season with head coach Megan Grant, who is expected to begin recruit announcements for the 2022-23 class in the coming months.
