OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's basketball team was back in action on Wednesday night, losing their first match up with former head coach
Christa Eniojukan and the York Lions 79-51.
This game was the Ridgebacks' first since Nov. 27, when they lost 61-49 in Oshawa to the Rams.
Ontario Tech and York traded the lead throughout the first half, with
Dalyssa Fleurgin (Montreal, Que.) leading the Ridgebacks in scoring with 17 points, including two threes. The Ridgebacks led by four in the second half before a 14-0 run by York's Emma McCamus, who finished the game with 24 points, gave York the momentum they needed to pull away.
Vanessa Budimunda (Montreal, Que.) also contributed 12 points and seven rebounds.
The Ridgebacks will have a chance for some revenge as they match up with the York Lions again on Saturday before returning to Oshawa to face the Queen's Gaels on Feb. 22.
