OSHAWA, Ont. – The Ontario Tech women's hockey team locked up a win in their first home game in over 70 days on Saturday night against the York Lions.
The 1-0 win was a redemption for the Ridgebacks after Friday night's loss against the York Lions.
York was first to score, or so they thought, but the goal was waved off.
Mia Rodgers (Keswick, Ont.) secured her first goal of the season with the game's official opening and only goal.
Despite an aggressive response from York, the Ridgebacks maintained their one-goal lead into the third.
York made several attempts to come back in the third period but were unsuccessful. There were several solid saves from Ridgeback goalie
Brooke Vial (Port Moody, B.C.), who picked up her third career shutout in the 39 save performance.
The women's hockey team is back in action Tuesday night in Toronto as they play the Varsity Blues at 7:30 p.m.
