Hadeza Ismaila (Ottawa, Ont.) put up a team-high 12 points as the women's basketball team picked up a 75-59 victory over the Nipissing Lakers to open their 2022-23 season. 

The offence was spread evenly amongst the Ridgebacks as nearly every player scored in the win. Ismaila also led Ontario Tech in rebounds with seven, while Sara Esongola Biango (Montreal, Que.) led the team with three steals. 

Nipissing's Krystal Osburn had a game-high 16 points, while Kylea Galipeau-Wilson had 10 points and 14 boards for the game's only double-double. 

Ontario Tech is back in action on Friday night when they host the Laurentian Voyageurs. Tip-off is 7 p.m. at the CRWC.
